After all the excitement of our recent design exhibition its time to get back to work! We’ve been given a choice of briefs set by D&AD. The British Design and Arts Direction represents the global creative, design and advertising communities and celebrates brilliance in commercial creativity. The briefs it sets come from a wide variety of disciplines and are in fact live briefs set by companies. Undertaking these briefs can often be rewarding and may even land you a job or perhaps a “Yellow Pencil” award!
I’ve been looking at the brief set by the Department of Health in collaboration with the London based design agency, Dare. The brief states that burning calories should be as fun as eating them! The issue of weight gain is a global problem. The creative challenge here is in changing peoples behaviour. It will need to get people excited about exercising.
This brief appeals to me because I tend to think of myself as a health conscious, fitness freak. In other words, I think I can really engage with this project with the right level of enthusiasm and motivation to create something of some worth. In the meantime, I aim to immerse myself in the challenge I’m being faced with and start to get a good feel for it before I start to develop my ideas.
